విజయ్ మాల్యా కథ మళ్లీ మొదటికొచ్చింది. ఏ క్షణమైనా భారత్‌కు అప్పగిస్తారని ప్రచారం జరిగినా.. అది ఇప్పట్లో జరిగేలా కనిపించడం లేదు. బ్యాంకులకు రుణాలు ఎగవేసి లండన్‌లో తలదాచుకుంటున్నారు విజయ్ మాల్యా. అతడిని భారత్‌కు అప్పగించేందుకు అవసరమైన ప్రక్రియ ప్రారంభమైందనుకుంటున్న క్రమంలో, తదుపరి చట్టపరమైన సమస్యలు పరిష్కారమయ్యేదాకా మాల్యాను భారత్‌కు అప్పగించడం వీలుకాదని బ్రిటిష్‌ హైకమిషన్ స్పష్టం చేసింది.
‘‘విజయ్‌మాల్యాను భారత్‌కు అప్పగించాలంటూ లండన్ హైకోర్టు 2018లో ఇచ్చిన తీర్పును సవాల్ చేస్తూ బ్రిటిష్‌ సర్వోన్నత న్యాయస్థానాన్ని మాల్యా ఆశ్రయించాడు. గత నెలలో దీనిపై విచారణ చేపట్టేందుకు సుప్రీంకోర్టు అనుమతి నిరాకరించింది. దీంతో అతడిని భారత్‌కు అప్పగించాల్సి ఉంది. అయితే మాల్యాను భారత్‌కు అప్పగించాలంటే మాత్రం అతనిపై ఉన్న ఇతర చట్ట పరమైన అంశాలన్నీ పరిష్కారం కావాల్సి ఉంది. అప్పటిదాకా మాల్యా బ్రిటన్‌ విడిచి వెళ్లడానికి కుదరదు’’ అంటూ బ్రిటిష్‌ హై కమిషన్‌ అధికారి ప్రతినిధి వెల్లడించారు.
బ్యాంకుల నుంచి రూ.9,000 కోట్ల అప్పులు తీసుకొని తీర్చకుండా 2016 మార్చిలో ఇండియా నుంచి పారిపోయారు. మాల్యాను ఇండియాకి తిరిగి పంపాలని ఏప్రిల్ 20న ఇంగ్లండ్ హైకోర్టు తీర్పిచ్చింది. దీనిని సవాల్ చేస్తూ ఆయన ఇంగ్లాండ్ సుప్రీంకోర్టులో అప్పీల్ చేశారు. మే 14న సుప్రీం కోర్టు కూడా మాల్యాకు వ్యతిరేకంగా తీర్పివ్వడంతో.. మొత్తం ఆస్తులను తీర్చేస్తానని కేంద్రానికి ఆయన ఆఫర్ ఇచ్చారు. కానీ తనపై విధించిన కేసులను తొలగించాలని కోరాడు.
విజయ్ మాల్యా, ఇతరులపై జనవరి 24, 2017లో CBI చార్జ్‌షీట్‌ను ఫైల్ చేసింది. ఇండియా కోరిక మేరకు ఇంగ్లండ్ అధికారులు ఏప్రిల్ 20,2017న మాల్యాను అరెస్ట్ చేశారు.
