ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంక్ దాదాపు తొమ్మిది దశాబ్దాలుగా తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాలతో పాటు వివిధ రాష్ట్రాల్లో బ్యాకింగ్ సేవలు అందించింది. అలాంటి బ్యాంక్ పేరు నేటి నుంచి చరిత్రలో కలిసిపోతుంది. విలీనాల ద్వారా PSBల బలోపేతం పేరుతో తెలుగు ప్రజలతో ముడిపడిన ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంక్‌ను కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం ఇతర PSBల్లో కలిపేస్తోంది.
స్టేట్ బ్యాంక్ ఆఫ్ హైదరాబాద్ (SBH) ఇప్పటికే స్టేట్ బ్యాంక్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా (SBI) లో కలిసిపోయింది. తాజాగా ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంక్.. యూనియన్ బ్యాంక్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా (UBI)లో విలీనమవుతోంది.
ప్రముఖ స్వాతంత్ర్య సమరయోధుడు డాక్టర్ భోగరాజు పట్టాభి సీతారామయ్య 1923 నవంబరు‌లో ప్రైవేట్ బ్యాంకు‌గా ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంక్‌ను స్థాపించారు. 1969లో జాతీయకరణను తప్పించుకున్న ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంక్.. 1980 ఏప్రిల్‌లో మాత్రం తప్పించుకోలేకపోయింది. బుధవారం (ఏప్రిల్ 1) నుంచి మరో ప్రభుత్వరంగ బ్యాంకు యూనియన్ బ్యాంక్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా (UBI)లో విలీనమవుతూ తన ఉనికిని కోల్పోనుంది.
